First 5 Nominees For Ballon d'Or Revealed French publication France Football have revealed some of the nominees for the 2017 Ballon d'Or. Find out who the first players who made the shortlist were. France Football, who handed out the FIFA Ballon d'Or between 2010 and 2015, split up with football's world governing body last year. The French publication produced the Golden Ball award from 1956 to 2009, and reverted to their old format in 2016. Ronaldo won the award last year – his fourth overall – and is expected to lift the trophy again. France Football will release the 30 nominees (in no particular order) for this year's edition during the course of Monday, and revealed the first names at 9:00 am. Five names revealed on Monday morning were: Neymar (FC Barcelona/Paris Saint-Germain) Luka Modric (Real Madrid) Paulo Dybala (Juventus) Marcelo (Real Madrid) N'Golo Kante (Chelsea) Note: FIFA's "The Best" award will be announced on 23 November, with Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar being the final three nominees for that accolade.
